If you are looking for a fitness tracker and deciding between the Oura Ring and Apple Watch, this review is for you. I have used and enjoyed both trackers and honestly find it difficult to compare. They both have great features and it truly depends on what you are looking to use it for. I end up using both majority of the time!
Oura Ring:
The Oura Ring is for you if…
- You are looking for a tracker that will help you with overall wellness.
- You are focused on tracking your sleep, cycle, and heart rate.
- You are interested in tracking trends with the data.
- You want something that you can forget you are wearing and won’t check obsessively.
- You like the idea of not charging your tracker every day. You can go about 3 days with out charging your ring.
You should not get the Oura Ring if…
- Your main focus is tracking your workouts. It does track it to some extent, but it is not as accurate as other devises as that is not the main purpose of the ring.
- You enjoy a tracker that connects to your phone to give you notifications.
Apple Watch:
The Apple Watch is for you if…
- Your main focus is tracking your lifts, runs, yoga, etc.
- You enjoy receiving notifications from your phone. Some people don’t like that you are always connected to your phone, but I personally enjoy it because it makes me check my phone less. I will know when I get a notification and need to check my phone.
- You want a tracker that has easy access to the data and you don’t have to open your phone to get it.
You should not get the Apple Watch if…
- You think you will easily get obsessed with checking it (ex: how many steps you have gotten in the day so far)
- You know you won’t charge it every night with your phone.
- A priority of yours is tracking sleep.
This is a very high level overview of the Oura Ring and Apple Watch. Both have amazing features and can be helpful on your fitness and wellness journey. If you are interested in buying one, I hope this helps you decide! Lastly, I do want to point out that you don’t need a fitness tracker to be healthy, start your journey, or achieve your fitness goals. Tracking your fitness and wellness excessively can actually be damaging to your health. You know yourself best, so keep that in mind when making your decision.
