I have always dreamed of having a garage home gym and I was patiently waiting until we bought a house to make my dream come true. However, I realized I might be waiting a while because we live in California lol. I was tired of waiting and decided to make the most of our living situation and create a tiny home gym in our two bedroom apartment. If you are reading this, this is your reminder you don’t need a fancy home gym like the one you saw on instagram to get started. It is actually really simple, and can make a huge difference in your daily life. I am a huge fan of working out at home. You get more time back in your day and save money on gym memberships. It’s a win-win!
Here is everything we did and bought to turn our home office into a home office/gym.
- We put these gym mats from Amazon right on top of our carpet. For our space, we went with 48 square feet.
- We hung up three large mirrors to make the space feel larger.
- Our trusty dumbbell rack from Costco.

This is really all you need to get started! Over time, we have added these things to our little home gym:
- Yoga blocks – we got these for very cheap from TJ Max
- Yoga Mat – our favorite is Stakt
- Pilates Ball
- Pilates Ring
- Resistance Bands

My husband and I use this space every day and love it! We hope to slowly upgrade over time, but it is all we need for now.
